Just a small sampling of places to find holiday gifts for people in your life who are more analog than digital, who still love the feel of paper and pens, and who appreciate slowness, quirkiness, or humor.
Baum-Kuchen is one of my favorite spots for these kinds of gifts. Paper planners and notebooks, bags and pouches, are among the other analog goodies that thrill me when I peruse their site, including the Roterfaden they carry. And we can’t forget my favorite pencils, Blackwings, which they also sell.
As they announce on their site, Pittsburgh Mercantile is a curated collection of locally-produced craftwork, arts, accessories, and utilitarian goods. I love seeing what they have in stock, like these wonderful socks and their selection of books.
Edge of Urge is where I go for slightly edgier goods. They have great cards and oddball gifts for the oddballs in your life. C’mon. You know you have oddballs in your life. Perhaps you are one yourself, in which case, treat yo-self. They have stickers, socks, other accessories, and more!
Jet Pens is pen mecca for those of us who love writing longhand or making things with our hands. I particularly love their Kaweco sport fountain pens. You can even buy bundles of pens in the same color for the orange (or teal or red or blue or green) lover in your life.
That should get you started if you are buying gifts online. Otherwise, go to local stores and art fairs to support real-life humans who are making art right around where you are. That’s your best option, but these online shops will help a shopper out, too. Me? I’ll be sitting here weaving potholders.
Can I buy a couple of your potholders?
